ANISEED
Pimpinella anzsum
carrot family The essential
oil of the anise plant is extracted by steam distillation of the
seeds. Aniseed oil stimulates digestion, relieves cramps, and reduces
flatulence. For stomach and abdominal cramps, particularly when
caused by nervous tension, massages with this oil may be helpful.
Use 1 tablespoon almond oil mixed with 5 drops of aniseed oil. A
mixture of aniseed, caraway seed, fennel, and coriander oils—the
oil of the four winds—is an effective remedy for flatulence,
used as a massage oil or taken orally (2 drops twice daily).
Aniseed oil helps flush the system, and it is
a good expectorant. For coughs and excessive phlegm in the chest,
use aniseed oil mixed in honey as a syrup or in cough drops. Used
with other oils it benefits people with impotence or frigidity.
For sweet dreams, aniseed oil is best used
in an aroma lamp mixed with balm, neroli, and Roman chamomile. Severe
sneezing may be reduced when 5 drops of aniseed oil is mixed with
1 tablespoon of almond oil and rubbed into the upper neck region.
Dosage: Take 1 to 2 drops, diluted, one to two times daily.
Caution: Aniseed oil in high dosages may cause stomach irritation
and dizziness. Therefore, do, not exceed the recommended dosage.
If necessary, choose other oils with similar properties rather than
taking aniseed orally. Also be aware of irritation and dizziness
when using the oil for massages and in the bath.
